Supporting Taunton Foodbank with the BanktheFood App

BanktheFood aims to ensure Taunton Foodbank always have exactly what they need, precisely when they need it.

Food banks often face challenges in communicating their real-time supply needs. Traditional methods like social media posts or supermarket notices can quickly become outdated or overlooked, and as a result, they can be inundated with one item or have too little of another.
BanktheFood app addresses this issue with an innovative solution which connects food banks with donors at the most crucial moment—when donors are at the supermarket. The app is free to use and helps ensure that Taunton Foodbank receive the right items at the right time.

How does the app work?

• Download the ‘BanktheFood’ app from your app store or visit https://www.bankthefood.org/whatisbankthefood/
• Search and follow Taunton Foodbank, the app will send you a helpful ‘ping’ with a reminder of your local food banks’ needs when you are shopping in the supermarket.
• You can then choose exactly what you would like to donate from the list of most needed items and then leave your donation in the collection box at the end of your shopping trip.
• Taunton Foodbank will then be alerted via the app of your (anonymous) donation making it easier for us to track and locate items we really need.
